Are you feelin funky? Well then its time to lay down that boogie &… “Play That Funky Music” by Dino Jag.

Dino Jag’s funkalicious remakes of the classic Wild Cherry hit are NOW AVAILABLE for download on Dino Jag - Play That Funky Music - EP

“Once I was boogie singer, playin’ in a rock’n'roll band, I never had no problems… Yeh I can relate to that opening lyric in the song,” says Dino Jag.

“I’ve worked with rhythm & blues bands, 4-on-the-floor rock bands… but as soon as you add a little bit of that soul-soaked funk into the mix – man that feels good! It’s just a great vibe.

I’ve always wanted to release a version of “Play That Funky Music”. It’s such a classic song. I remember when I first heard it on the radio as a kid… that opening guitar riff, the horns, the cowbell… each element in the song contributing to that infectious groove – and that vocal! I couldn’t believe it when I eventually saw the film clip – the singer was white!

There are two mixes available for download, the Original Mix which was co produced with Rob Vorel at his studio (The Red Room) & the Elecrodelic Mix which I later produced in my little den. Rob did some great programming on the Original Mix sessions & put down some cool piano vamps & synth sounds. “We had a great time together on this track. It’s cool to finally be able to get these tracks out & spread the groove!”

Both mixes are now available all around the world through Dino Jag - Play That Funky Music - EP

Shine a Light on Christmas

Monday, December 12th, 2005

Last Xmas I decided that no matter how busy I got during the year, I would at least make an effort to touch base with the people that I haven’t seen or spoken to for a while, & tap into a little more gratitude for the friends that I have & the freedoms…

Life can take an unexpected turn at any time, & that’s when you suddenly realize how precious the day-to-day things we take for granted truly are. I’m not trying to get all wanky here, but I do feel very fortunate that I have a loving family, am in good health & have some very special friends that I know would help me out if I got into trouble. But sadly, there are thousands of hurricane victims who at this very moment are experiencing the utter devastation of having lost absolutely everything, including their family & friends. It’s so hard to truly comprehend what that would be like.

A personal highlight for me this year was working with one of Australia’s greatest entertainers, Barry Crocker. We’ve recorded a track together called “Shine a Light” (aka Moonbeams) which we hope will receive some solid support here in Australian next year. But right now, I’m pleased to announce that the track is available as a download from Hurricane Healing – Volume 2.

The Hurricane Healing project is a great initiative that I‚Äôm supporting which is helping the victims of the 2005 Hurricane season through music. Hurricane Healing is a “virtual album,” which includes a number of downloadable tracks provided by musicians from all over the world. When you buy a track or album, 50 cents of every dollar you spend goes directly to the National Headquarters of the Salvation Army in the U.S. Additionally, many artists are donating the proceeds they‚Äôd normally receive from sales to this relief effort.

Hey, it’s not even a couple of bucks for a track, so why not download a copy, checkout the new single & at the same time contribute toward a great cause! While you are there check out some of the other tracks from the other artists, & if you are feeling really generous… download the whole album!

Enjoy the moments! – Dino Jag 2005
